particular parts of body.

As i remember at the last meeting and tutorial we talked about objectification of body. In our blog some of you posted good examples of advertasing campaing and also mentioned Helmut Newton's and Dali's works. I am in two minds about issue with women in art., because for me personally, Newton's photographs are more about celebrating of beauty rather than promotion of goods. So ,after that I can say that i'm not against of objectification in this case but I don't like usage of female image as a hook to catch public attention in adverts. From my point of view this two issues are pretty separated. What do you think guys about that ?
Howewer, there are also good/resonoble advertising with nude body (Chris posted some earlier ) here is one more campaign of Breast Cancer Foundation 2011. It won few design competitions among them 2 D&AD awards. ( more information here http://www.bcf.org.sg/pdf/BCF_EffieGoldAward2011.pdf )

  1. I think your comments on Dali & Newton are absolutely correct and the artistic representation of the body is another issue. Breast cancer has used a number of very clever ideas, where obviously the breast is featured, it would be great if we could come up with some idea that shows the difference between valid use of the female body as in these cancer awareness adverts, and the invalid, like Ryanair or alcohol adverts. I am not sure how we can do this though.
